Celebrating Internships Across Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire
The success of the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority internship programme was highlighted in a special celebration event held in Peterborough earlier this week. The event brought together interns, businesses, and programme organisers to recognise the achievements of those involved and reflect on the impact of the initiative.
Funded by the UK Government and delivered by Growth Works with Skills, the programme has provided significant opportunities for both businesses and individuals. For many, the experience has been life-changing, offering valuable career development and enhancing employment prospects.
Local businesses have benefited from access to a pool of talented individuals, helping to fill roles that had previously been difficult to recruit for and supporting overall business growth. Meanwhile, interns have gained practical experience, built confidence, and developed new skills, with 82% of participants completing some form of training during their internship.
The event served as an opportunity to commend the dedication of the interns and the commitment of the participating businesses. The Growth Works with Skills team was also recognised for its role in delivering the programme and supporting the professional development of young talent across the region.
As discussions continue about future funding for similar initiatives, there is widespread hope that programmes like this will continue to receive support, ensuring ongoing opportunities for businesses and aspiring professionals alike.
