Sheffield Hallam Researchers Seek Huntingdonshire Workers for Health Study on Smoking, Alcohol, and Wellbeing

Researchers from the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University are undertaking research on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council, exploring the health behaviours of local people living and working in Cambridgeshire, including smoking, drinking alcohol, healthy eating and attending routine GP health checks. Our findings will inform recommendations about what can be done to support people to change their behaviour (e.g. to quit smoking).

We are currently recruiting people who live in Huntingdonshire to take part in interviews about one of these behaviours. We are particularly keen to interview people working in occupations such as warehouse and machine operatives, packers, forklift or HGV drivers, labourers, tradespeople, delivery drivers, security staff, hospitality staff and retail assistants. We are appealing to local employers to share our study adverts (posters/leaflets) with their staff.  People can take part in their own free time and will not need time off work to participate; anyone who completes an interview will also receive a £20 shopping voucher as thanks. We can supply copies of our study leaflets and posters or come and talk to your staff onsite if that’s appropriate. For local businesses who support our recruitment, we will gladly share our insights and recommendations regarding the health needs of local employees.
